Gov't Mule tribute Pink Floyd

El año pasado las mulas se pasaban por la piedra a los Zeppelin, versioneando enterito el "Houses of the Holy" (como publicado y disponible para el que lo quiera en este mismo blog).
Este año, y como sorpresa de la noche Halloween, Warren Haynes y su grupo hicieron un segundo set cascándose ¡¡ 14 canciones 14!! de los Pink Floyd, basados en su parte setentera y más conocida para el público.
Bueno tíos, en primicia de las buenas, este blog os ofrece el segundo set (y el encore) del concierto celebrado en el Orpheum Theatre de Boston el pasado 31.10.08, dividido en dos partes y todo con super versiones de los enormes PINK FLOYD.

Gov't Mule tribute Led Zeppelin

Una Gozada eh?

Gov't Mule

Gov't Mule (o Government Mule) es una banda que nace paralelamente a los Allman con aires sureños de jam band.
Por el año 1994, Warren Haynes (voz y guitarra) Allen Woody (bajo), junto con el baterista Matt Abs dejaron apartada la banda Allman para girar bajo el nombre de Gov't Mule. LLegaron a sacar un primer disco, de nombre igual que el grupo, pero en el año 2000 Allen Woody falleció, por lo que giraron durante años con un montón de bajistas postizos, hasta grabaron un disco con diferentes bajos, hasta que se unieron un bajista y teclista definitivos: Danny Louis (teclado) y Andy Hess (bajo). Esta formación de cuatro se mantiene hasta el momento y van sacando discos con cuentagotas, pero de una calidad terrible.


Son una gente tan sobrada que en medio de sus conciertos tocan e cabo a rabo sus discos favoritos, ya sean de Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix... con jams varias por su repertorio de versiones, solo hay que escuchar No Quarter o Dazed and Confused, si es que a uno le entran ganas de dejar la música al escuchar a esta gente.

Life Before the Insanity es un disco genial, con ese toque Warren inconfundible a la voz y guitarra (como en todos sus discos vaya...) que te dan gans de saltar de alegría y mover la cabeza lentamente haciendo el "seeh" aceptando que lo que estás escuchando es simplemente inmejorable. Además, este discazo cuenta con la participación de Ben Harper (tito Ben para los colegas) en el tema "Lay Your Burden Down". Ben Harper es uno de los tantos artistas que en directo ha tenido el honor de compartir escenario con los Mule y tocar un tema o dos con ellos. Podría tirarme un buen rato citando músicos que han querido comnpartir escenario con esta gente, pero es mejor que escuchéis el Life Before Insanity y aceptéis en vuestras almas que ya podéis morir tranquilos.
